6 Personal Hygiene Products to Improve Fertility

There are a wide variety of personal care products and most market themselves as “healthy” or “natural” and many other phrases that grab one’s attention.

There are also terrible ingredients you can find in these products that are known to be endocrine (hormone) disrupters. Because our skin is the largest organ of the body, most of what we put on our skin and leave there absorbs into the bloodstream. In order to maximize you and your partner’s health, especially if you want to conceive, you need to consider everything you expose yourself to on a daily basis.

There are many harmful ingredients to avoid when buying personal care product. Most of them can negatively impact fertility, so here are some to watch out for.

Toxic Ingredients

  • Phthalates may disrupt hormone levels and negatively affect reproductive health.
  • Parabens can mimic estrogen which can lead to hormone disruption.
  • Triclosan may interfere with hormone regulation and fertility.
  • Sulfates can irritate the skin and may indirectly affect fertility by causing allergic reactions or inflammation.
  • Synthetic Fragrances are artificial fragrances found in various products that can contain a mix of undisclosed chemicals that may interfere with hormone balance.

Choose products that say “phthalate-free,” “paraben-free,” and “sulfate-free” because it can help minimize your exposure to potentially harmful chemicals.

These are just a sliver of toxic ingredients found. There are plastics, formaldehyde and much more harmful chemicals.

Great video talking about the harmful ingredients in personal care products.

Most of us use body wash, hair wash, toothpaste, face wash, deodorant and toothpaste, so I wanted to recommend the products I use. There are an enormous amount of other products out there too, but these are the ones I’ve been using for the past 2 years that have left my skin, hair, mind and body feeling amazing.

We cannot protect ourselves from everything, but we can control the things that we do to our bodies. We can achieve this by minimizing the toxic products and swapping them out for healthier ones.

Don’t be overwhelmed by all these suggestions. If you cannot make all these changes instantaneously, then start with one product at a time. You can split it up by replacing one new product every week, two weeks, or month. Whatever works best for you.
